the ashes and lava of Vesuvius in 79 BC.
The ancient event was a true tragedy at the time but the volcanic ashes and lava preserved these Roman
settlements in exceptional conditions, both sites being considered today some of the most well-preserved
ruins of the Roman Empire as well as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The tour will start from Pompeii, settlement located at less than 30 kilometers from Sorrento and easily reachable from any city in Sorrento and Amalfi regions. Here, you will walk on the steps of our Roman ancestors, discovering the ruins of a once flourishing town. There are so many sights to visit in Pompeii that it’s almost impossible to remember and visit all of them.
Nevertheless, getting lost among the ruins and exploring this fascinating town at your own pace is the best thing to do.
Our tour will continue with the visit of the volcano. Our driver will take you to the entrance of Vesuvius National Park from where you will walk on the slopes of the volcano.
It takes about an hour to climb up to the crater but trust us, the effort is well worth it.
The next stop will be at the winery “cantine del vesuvio “ where you can have lunch with wine tasting.
All is fresh and locala s the cheese prosciutto bruschetta spaghetti with local cherry tomato and of course the famous wine called Lacryma Christi. The price of the wine tasting is not inclueded in the tour rate. Extra 30€
My husband and I booked a wine tasting tour with Sorrentravel. We were picked up promptly and on time by Vincenzo, who was dressed professionally, in a very nice and clean Mercedes (which has free wi-fi). He immediately provided us with bottled water. Our wine tasting took place near Versuvio and our drive there was about one hour. Vincenzo was extremely pleasant, and spoke English very well. He also has conversational french which was a nice addition seeing as we are Canadians who also speak french. He was wonderful, drove well (we actually felt safe in his car) and conversed with us the entire time, asking about us personally, telling us interesting things and facts about Italy, pointing out important sites, etc. He also had a great sense of humor which made our drive very comfortable and enjoyable. We were extremely pleased with his services and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone! A five star service!
